According to information, the new scandal has been a loud alarm of the blatant corruption that cost the former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar billions of rupees.
According to documents made accessible to SAMAA TV, a cooperative housing society was used to transfer land for the Lake City housing project that was valued at billions of rupees.
It was evident from a copy of the contracts between State Life Cooperative Society and Lake City Housing Society that 500 Kanals of land had been illegally taken.
Previously, the society allegedly took 4000 Kanals of land from the State Life Cooperative Housing Society, according to the documents.
The document also revealed that Usman Moazzam, the former registrar of the cooperative housing society, and Ahmed Raza Sarwar, the former secretary of the society, were both involved in the scam.
Furthermore, the alleged beneficiaries included Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, Moonis Elahi, and Muhammad Khan Bhatti, who allegedly used front-men to seize the land and transfer it from the residents of Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin using forged documents.
According to the records, prominent political figures and government employees, notably Gohar Ijaz, who stole land while Pervaiz and Buzdar were in office, were also implicated in this fraud.
Ijaz was aided, it was further stated, by Pervaiz, Raja Basharat, Moonis, and the then-chief minister of Punjab, Punjab Buzdar.
The documents revealed that the fraud had been going on for nine years and had assisted well-known land speculators in stealing billions of dollars in cash and property.
Despite repeated requests for comments, Punjab Housing Minister Raja Basharat did not respond until after the piece had been filed.
