Recent weeks have seen a surge in engagements between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, particularly following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit in March. According to sources , Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is expected to visit Islamabad between May 10 and 15, marking a significant event.
This visit holds great importance for Pakistan, as it aims to attract substantial investments from Saudi Arabia across various sectors. Prince Salman’s forthcoming visit is anticipated to solidify these investment prospects, following discussions held in Makkah where both nations agreed on attracting investments totaling $5 billion in Pakistan.
This visit would mark Prince Salman’s first trip to Pakistan in five years, with his last visit dating back to February 2019 during the tenure of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Notably, a planned visit in 2022 was canceled at the last minute.
In preparation for Prince Salman’s visit, a 50-member high-level Saudi trade delegation, led by Deputy Investment Minister Ibrahim Almubarak, has arrived in Pakistan. Their two-day official visit to Islamabad aims to explore trade and investment opportunities across various sectors such as information technology, telecoms, energy, aviation, construction, mining exploration, agriculture, and human resource development.
Before the arrival of the trade delegation, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan visited Pakistan for a two-day visit last month. During his stay, he pledged Saudi Arabia’s full support for Pakistan’s economic development, emphasizing the strong bond between the two countries.
