Al Baik
Saudi Arabia’s renowned fast-food chain, Al Baik, is preparing to make its debut in Pakistan, confirmed Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters in Lahore, Tarar highlighted the growing Saudi investment in Pakistan, noting that agreements between the two countries have now surpassed $6 billion.
“Saudi investments are increasing, and Al Baik is on its way to Pakistan,” Tarar announced. He also mentioned that Saudi Aramco had opened its first fuel station in the country, signaling deeper economic ties between the two nations.
Tarar emphasized the broader economic improvements Pakistan is experiencing, pointing out that more allied countries are now eager to invest in Pakistan.
He revealed that Qatar plans to invest $3 billion in the country, while Azerbaijan is set to contribute $2 billion. Additionally, Pakistan recently signed an agreement with Abu Dhabi to develop port infrastructure, further boosting international collaboration.
According to the minister, Pakistan’s foreign reserves now stand at $11 billion, with remittances reaching an impressive $8 billion. He noted that this growing inflow of foreign funds would significantly impact the economy, particularly in terms of job creation.
Tarar praised the Pakistani diaspora, acknowledging their vital role in strengthening the country’s foreign exchange reserves through remittances.
In a significant step towards launching Al Baik in Pakistan, the Saudi company signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pakistan’s Gas and Oil Pakistan Ltd (GO) in October 2024.
The MoU, which outlines plans for the operation of Al Baik outlets across Pakistan, marks a crucial milestone in the fast-food chain’s expansion strategy.
The signing ceremony, held in Islamabad, was supported by Saudi Minister of Investment, Engineer Khalid Al-Falih, and attended by senior representatives from both Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Al Baik, founded in Jeddah in 1974, is famous for its signature broast chicken and has grown into one of the most beloved fast-food brands in Saudi Arabia, with over 120 outlets across the Kingdom, Bahrain, and other regions.
The brand has a strong following among Pakistani expatriates and those visiting Saudi Arabia for business or religious purposes.
The partnership with GO, a major player in Pakistan’s oil and gas sector backed by a 40% stake from Saudi Aramco, positions the company as a key partner in Al Baik’s entry into the Pakistani market.
This collaboration is expected to strengthen both nations’ economic ties while offering Pakistanis access to one of Saudi Arabia’s most iconic fast-food experiences.
