The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a notification restoring multiple reserved seats in the National Assembly and provincial assemblies, significantly bolstering the positions of major political parties.
As per the notification, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has gained 13 additional seats in the National Assembly, including 12 seats for women and one for minorities. This move further consolidates the party’s strength in the legislature.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has secured four more seats, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) has gained two. In total, 19 lawmakers’ memberships have been reinstated in the National Assembly.
In the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, 25 seats have been restored: JUI-F gains 10, PML-N secures 7, PPP adds 6, while Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P) each get one.
The Punjab Assembly sees the largest increase, with 27 seats reinstated. PML-N adds 23 new seats, PPP gets 2, and both Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) gain one each.
In Sindh, three seats have been restored: PPP claims two and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) secures one.
The notification follows recent legal and electoral proceedings related to reserved seats, aiming to ensure full representation in all assemblies. The updated party positions reflect the shifting political landscape ahead of future legislative sessions.
