Rabi-ul-Awwal Moon Not Sighted; Eid Milad-un-Nabi Date Confirmed

Rabi-ul-Awwal Moon

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Wednesday that the Rabi-ul-Awwal moon was not sighted anywhere across the country, setting the stage for the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awwal.

As a result, it was confirmed that Eid Milad-un-Nabi, which is celebrated on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal to mark the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), will fall on Tuesday, September 17.

The announcement came after a detailed meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, at the Kohsar Complex in Islamabad.

The meeting brought together key representatives from various relevant departments, including SUPARCO (Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission), the Meteorological Department, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

These departments played a critical role in coordinating and providing technical support for the moon-sighting process.

The central committee’s meeting was not an isolated effort; it was part of a larger coordinated endeavor involving zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal committees across the nation.

Throughout the evening, these committees worked in tandem, communicating with one another to gather reports and observations from different parts of Pakistan.

Their goal was to determine whether the moon of Rabi-ul-Awwal had been sighted, which would mark the beginning of the new Islamic month.

Despite clear communication channels and diligent efforts from the zonal committees, no credible reports of the moon’s sighting were received from any part of the country.

The absence of a moon sighting meant that the month of Safar would complete its 30-day cycle, leading to the commencement of Rabi-ul-Awwal from Thursday.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s decision is of great importance to the Muslim community in Pakistan, as Rabi-ul-Awwal is a month of immense spiritual significance.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi, which falls on the 12th of this month, is one of the most revered events in the Islamic calendar. On this day, Muslims across the country and around the world commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with great reverence, holding special prayers, processions, and various religious and cultural events.

In recent years, the moon sighting process has become more technologically advanced, incorporating inputs from astronomical data, meteorological forecasts, and scientific analyses to aid in determining the visibility of the new moon.

This year’s process, which involved a wide network of observers and technical experts, again underscored the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accuracy in the moon-sighting process.

Overall, the announcement marks the beginning of preparations for Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations throughout the country.

As the community prepares for this significant day, the decision of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee helps to unify the nation in its religious observance, ensuring that the celebration takes place on the same day throughout Pakistan.
