Qatar Airways has significantly expedited the installation of Starlink WiFi across its Boeing 777 fleet, achieving rapid progress in equipping its aircraft with high-speed internet connectivity.
The Doha-based airline first introduced Starlink, a satellite internet service by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, in October 2024. Since then, it has successfully installed the system on 30 of its Boeing 777 aircraft, covering more than 50% of its entire B777 fleet.
This accelerated implementation is approximately 70% ahead of the airline’s initial schedule. The swift progress has been made possible by drastically reducing installation time—from the previous 2–3 days per aircraft to under 10 hours.
As a result, Qatar Airways is now on track to complete the Starlink WiFi rollout across all 57 of its Boeing 777s by the end of the second quarter of 2025. The airline’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience through advanced in-flight connectivity has driven this rapid deployment.
Qatar Airways Group CEO Mohammed Al-Meer highlighted the achievement, stating, “We are fulfilling our promise to offer passengers the best in-flight connectivity at an unprecedented speed. In just four months since launching the world’s first Boeing 777 equipped with Starlink, we have successfully installed this cutting-edge service on 30 aircraft, exceeding our original targets.”
He further emphasized, “Starlink WiFi is a transformative upgrade for our passengers, ensuring seamless connectivity on an increasing number of routes.”
Beyond Qatar Airways, several other airlines, including AirBaltic, SAS, United Airlines, and Air France, are also expected to introduce Starlink WiFi on their aircraft over the next year.
As airlines continue to prioritize high-speed internet services, Starlink is set to become a key player in shaping the future of in-flight connectivity worldwide.
