Punjab’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) responded to heightened concerns about potential terrorist threats by conducting a series of intelligence-based operations across various cities. These coordinated efforts resulted in the apprehension of 23 individuals suspected of engaging in terrorist activities.
Explosives, hand grenades, weapons, and a significant sum of cash were confiscated during the operations, emphasizing the gravity of the threat posed by these suspects. The arrested individuals were reportedly linked to prominent terrorist groups, acting as facilitators for Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Lahore and Al-Qaeda in Faisalabad.
The raids targeted major urban centers, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Rajanpur, Sialkot, and Faisalabad. Officials stated that the operation focused on key figures and networks actively planning attacks on various institutions. “These individuals were actively planning to carry out attacks on critical installations,” emphasized the officials.

Over the course of the week, the CTD conducted 962 combing operations, resulting in the arrest of 133 suspects. More than 37,000 individuals were interrogated as part of these extensive efforts to eradicate terrorism and ensure the safety of the populace.
The positive outcome of the CTD’s operation underscores the government’s dedication to combating terrorism and upholding peace and stability in the region. Nevertheless, it serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing threat posed by extremist elements, highlighting the need for sustained vigilance and proactive measures to safeguard against potential attacks.
