Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Forms Examination Task Force to Overhaul Provincial System

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has established an Examination Task Force aimed at reviewing and enhancing the province’s examination system.

The task force will be led by esteemed educationist Muzammil Mehmood. It will also include special secretaries of school and higher education, the managing director of the Punjab Textbook Board, and the chairman of the examination commission. The primary objective is to scrutinize the current examination system in Punjab, identify its shortcomings, and propose necessary reforms.

The CM has empowered the task force to develop a comprehensive mechanism for implementing changes within Punjab’s educational boards. Additionally, the task force is instructed to collaborate with relevant departments to ensure administrative support and successful execution of the proposed improvements.

In related news, the Chief Minister’s initiative comes at a time when examination integrity is under scrutiny across Pakistan.

Recently, a significant breach in examination security was uncovered in Karachi. A female examiner from the Government Degree Girls Arts and Commerce College admitted to leaking the second-year Zoology paper. She apologized to the chairman of the Board of Intermediate Examination Karachi (BIEK), asserting that the college staff were not complicit in the leak. The examiner took full responsibility and pledged to avoid such misconduct in the future.

The chairman of BIEK confirmed that strict actions would be taken against the examiner according to established rules and regulations. This incident has highlighted the pressing need for stringent examination protocols and oversight to maintain the credibility of educational assessments.

The formation of the Examination Task Force in Punjab is a proactive step towards addressing these issues. By evaluating and improving the examination systems, Punjab aims to set a higher standard for educational integrity and effectiveness, ensuring that such breaches are minimized and educational quality is enhanced across the board.
