Mobile Signal Suspension
The Punjab Home Department has formally requested the federal government to implement a partial suspension of mobile services across ten districts on August 27, in preparation for the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA).
This decision is part of the department’s efforts to ensure security and maintain public order during the significant commemorative events associated with this religious observance.
In its official communication to the federal government, the Home Department referenced a request from local police authorities to halt mobile services in certain areas.
These areas are expected to host large processions and gatherings, and the suspension is intended to address potential security concerns and prevent any disruptions that could arise during the events.
The proposed suspension will be in effect from 5 AM to 11 PM on the day of the Chehlum.
The ten districts where mobile services will be partially suspended include Rawalpindi, Jhang, Layyah, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Chakwal, and Toba Tek Singh.
During this time, mobile communications in these areas will be restricted to manage the large crowds and enhance security measures effectively.
In contrast, mobile services will continue to function normally in all other districts of Punjab, including Lahore.
This selective suspension aims to strike a balance between ensuring security in high-risk areas while minimizing the impact on general communication across the rest of the province.
The decision to partially suspend mobile services is a precautionary measure designed to support the smooth and secure conduct of the Chehlum commemorations.
It reflects the government’s proactive approach to managing large-scale public events and ensuring the safety and order of all participants during this important religious occasion.
