Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram has announced that the party will disclose the details of its civil disobedience movement tomorrow. He emphasized that the movement will proceed in phases, with strategies being finalized after upcoming events.
Akram stated that the details of the movement were initially planned to be revealed after the Martyrs’ Day gathering. This event, originally scheduled for December 13, has been postponed to December 15 and will now be held in Peshawar. He clarified that the gathering will solely serve as a prayer ceremony without any political decisions being made.
Following the prayer ceremony, PTI aims to convene a meeting of its seven founding leaders to finalize strategies for the civil disobedience movement. “The phases of the movement will be announced after the gathering,” Akram said, highlighting the importance of collective decision-making among the party’s leadership.
In response to remarks made by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif during a Samaa TV interview, Akram rejected claims that PTI had sought negotiations. “We have not and will not request talks,” he asserted, though he confirmed that PTI Founder Imran Khan has established a committee open to dialogue with all stakeholders.
Addressing allegations against Imran Khan’s stance on the military, Akram reiterated that Khan has never incited hatred toward the army. “He has always said that this army is ours, and this country is ours,” he affirmed.
The PTI spokesperson also dismissed criticisms of Khan’s leadership and personal life, noting the unwavering support of his family, including his sisters, Bushra Bibi, and the nation’s youth. Akram advised Khawaja Asif to focus on his own political matters instead of making baseless accusations.
