PTI MNA Ameer Sultan Allegedly Abducted by Unknown Individuals in Lahore

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Ameer Sultan was reportedly “abducted” by unidentified individuals in Lahore, according to a senior party leader on Sunday.

Sultan, who secured his seat in the lower house of parliament after winning the NA-110 elections in Jhang, was taken from his residence on Sarwar Road in Punjab’s capital, PTI Lahore Secretary General Hafiz Zeeshan alleged.

“Unknown individuals arrived at his house in two vehicles and abducted him last night,” claimed the PTI leader, adding that after the Supreme Court’s decision on the reserved seats, party members feel “unsafe”.

The Supreme Court has ruled that PTI is eligible for reserved seats, which would make it the largest party in the National Assembly once those seats are allocated.

In response, SSP Cantt Awais Shafiq informed Geo News that the police had neither arrested the PTI MNA nor received any complaint regarding his alleged abduction.

When questioned about the lack of a formal complaint, Zeeshan told Geo News that the party was in the process of drafting the complaint and would submit it to the police station on Monday.

Asad Qaiser, a top PTI leader, expressed his concern over the alleged abduction, questioning the stability of a country “where politicians’ loyalties are forcibly shifted”.

“The law of the jungle prevails here; there’s no respect for the judiciary. There’s blatant opposition to the court’s decisions,” said the former NA speaker.

Qaiser challenged the government on its approach to governance, asking if it intended to manage the country’s affairs “by force”. He emphasized that PTI members would persist in their struggle within the bounds of the country’s laws.

“The time for condemnations is over; it’s time to resist,” he declared, urging that PTI’s MNAs, who need to submit forms showing their party affiliation following the SC’s order, be allowed to make their decisions freely.

“MNA Ameer Sultan should be released immediately,” he demanded.
