MANSEHRA: In Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Anti-Corruption Establishment officials arrested former PTI MNAs Ali Nawaz Awan and Amir Dogar at the residence of local party leader Razaullah Khan.
The operation also led to the arrest of Razaullah Khan and his cousins. In a separate incident, the Anti-Corruption Establishment Punjab apprehended PTI leader Asad Qaiser in Islamabad.
Asad Qaiser, the former NA Speaker, faces charges related to corruption in Swabi’s Gaju Khan Medical College case. Sources indicate that Asad Qaiser is being transferred to Bani Gala police station.
These arrests add to the legal challenges faced by PTI, with top leaders Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi already in Adiala jail, undergoing trial in the cipher case. Overall, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leaders and ex-MNAs Ali Nawaz Awan and Amir Dogar arrested in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mansehra.
May 9 Events: PTI Leaders Arrested
Following the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday, violent clashes erupted across Pakistan.
Protesters, angered by their chairman’s detention, took to the streets in both remote and major cities. Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad sought the intervention of the armed forces to maintain law and order.
During a demonstration by PTI workers, Army installations and the Corps Commander’s House in Lahore faced attacks.
The unrest highlighted the widespread discontent and political tension, prompting authorities to deploy military assistance. As the situation escalated, concerns grew over the potential for further violence and the need to restore stability in various regions of the country.
