Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul has been released from Dera Ghazi Khan Central Jail following a High Court directive. The court ordered her release after she filed for bail, citing a case registered against her in Islamabad. This case stemmed from her participation in a public rally held on September 8.
Zartaj Gul sought transit bail from the Peshawar High Court, arguing that numerous Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) had also been detained for similar reasons. She highlighted that many MNAs had been arrested directly from the Parliament House, which she cited as grounds for her bail request. Following her plea, the High Court granted her bail, allowing her release from detention.
Her case is one of several recent arrests involving PTI leaders. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, along with Sher Afzal Marwat and Shoaib Shaheen, were previously detained. Capital Police in Islamabad also arrested MNAs Zain Qureshi and Sheikh Waqas Akram, taking them into custody from within the Parliament premises.
Other political figures associated with PTI and allied groups have faced similar fates. Among those detained are Owais Ahmed Chatha, Syed Shah Ahmed, and Sunni Ittehad Council leader Sahibzada Hamid Raza. Police have also taken into custody Yousaf Khan, Maulana Naseem Shah, and Ahmed Shah Khattak amid increasing political tensions and crackdowns.
The ongoing arrests reflect escalating tensions between PTI and the authorities, with multiple leaders facing legal action and detention following public rallies and protests.
