The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted his written response in the NAB amendments case, aaccording to the repots.
A five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa and including Justices Aminuddin Khan, Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Athar Minallah, and Hasan Azhar Rizvi, has reserved its verdict on the review petition filed by the government in the NAB amendments case after hearing arguments from all parties.
In his written response submitted to the Supreme Court, PTI founder Imran Khan has requested the court to invalidate the NAB amendments, arguing that they are against the law. He expressed concern that amendments aimed at protecting corruption are unacceptable, even in less developed states, and emphasized that Parliament must respect its constitutional limits when amending laws.
Imran Khan also accused NAB of misrepresenting the value of a necklace worth Rs3.18 billion, which was actually valued at Rs18 million, in the Toshakhana case against him.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had ruled in a 2-1 majority decision in favor of Imran Khan’s petition challenging amendments made to the accountability laws during the previous government’s tenure, thereby reinstating corruption cases against public officials that were closed due to these amendments.
Following this decision, the federal government filed a review petition under the SC Practice and Procedure Law, naming the Federation of Pakistan, National Accountability Bureau, and Imran Khan as respondents, and argued that the amendments did not violate basic rights and were within Parliament’s legislative authority.
