The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced its intention to form coalition governments with Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) in the center and Punjab. Furthermore, Imran Khan approved an alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
PTI’s Central Information Secretary Raoof Hasan made this announcement on Tuesday following a meeting between party leaders, journalists, and PTI founder Imran Khan in Adiala jail.
It’s worth noting that PTI-backed candidates contested the election independently after the Supreme Court stripped the party of its election symbol. However, under the Election Act, of 2017, independent elected representatives are required to join a political party within three days of the election. Until they join a political party with an election symbol, they will not be entitled to reserved seats.
During his informal media talk in Adiala Jail, Imran Khan named Ali Amin Gandapur as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He mentioned that there was no consensus on the name of the Prime Minister yet. Ali Amin Gandapur’s political journey began with his election to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2013 as a member of the PTI party.
He later secured a seat in the National Assembly of Pakistan in the 2018 general election from Constituency NA-38 (Dera Ismail Khan-I). Gandapur served as the provincial revenue minister in the first PTI government in KP and as the minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan in Imran Khan’s cabinet.
As the PTI navigates coalition formations and government structures, the evolving political landscape in Pakistan is closely watched by the public and political observers.
