ISLAMABAD: Sanam Javed, a prominent activist of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been transferred to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) House in Islamabad following orders from KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
Chief Minister Gandapur has been in touch with Javed’s father and husband. Yar Muhammad Khan Niazi, the Focal Person to CM Gandapur on Digital Media, confirmed that Javed and her family will be staying at the KP House in the federal capital for the foreseeable future.
This development follows the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) order on Monday, which granted relief to Javed in her prolonged legal battles. The court ordered her release and directed the police and other law enforcement agencies to refrain from arresting her.
Sanam Javed has been embroiled in multiple legal issues. Despite obtaining bail in several cases, she was re-arrested on May 9th by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The FIA’s Cyber Crime Cell had filed a case against her for allegedly posting ‘inciting’ remarks on social media, urging people to ‘attack’ the Jinnah House.
Her initial detention occurred just days after she secured bail in other cases. Javed was taken into custody from a prison in Gujranwala, highlighting the ongoing legal pressures faced by PTI activists amid political turmoil in the country.
The relocation to KP House is seen as a strategic move to ensure her safety and provide some stability to her family. The situation underscores the complex legal and political landscape for PTI members and the continuous support from party leadership in their legal struggles.
