LAHORE: In a disturbing incident in the Samanabad area of Lahore, police rescued five children who were found chained inside their home. The children’s father, identified as Iqbal, has been arrested in connection with the case.
According to police reports, the rescue operation was initiated after a 13-year-old girl, Khadija, managed to call the police emergency number 15. Khadija and her four siblings were discovered bound in chains upon the police’s arrival.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Iqbal had chained the children following the departure of his wife. The children had expressed their desire to go to their mother, prompting Iqbal to take drastic measures to prevent them from leaving. In his defense, Iqbal claimed that he had chained the children to keep them with him.
The police have registered a case against Iqbal and taken him into custody. The rescued children have been handed over to the Child Protection Bureau for their safety and well-being.
“The children were found in a dire state, and their immediate rescue was our top priority. We are ensuring that they receive the necessary care and support,” a police spokesperson said.
The Child Protection Bureau has initiated the process of providing the children with medical and psychological support. Officials from the bureau stated that the children’s immediate needs are being addressed, and efforts are underway to determine the best long-term care solutions for them.
