Police Raid PTI’s Omar Ayub Khan’s Residence; Arrest Attempt Unsuccessful

ISLAMABAD: A joint team of Mianwali and Islamabad police conducted a raid at the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) General Secretary Omar Ayub Khan in Islamabad’s F-10 sector. Despite their efforts, they failed to arrest him as he was not present at the residence.

The raid was initiated in connection with an anti-terrorism case filed against Omar Ayub Khan. The Sargodha Anti-Terrorism Court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for him, prompting the coordinated action by the Islamabad and Mianwali police forces.

Omar Ayub Khan confirmed the raid on X (formerly Twitter). He stated that the Sargodha ATC had issued non-bailable arrest warrants against him, which led to the raid. In his posts, Ayub alleged that the federal and provincial governments, along with their agencies, are attempting to arrest him due to his involvement in the “Form 47” campaign. This political maneuver is aimed at destabilizing the current government, according to Ayub.

The opposition leader further alleged that a judge was taken hostage by agencies before his court appearance. This dramatic claim underscores the tense and volatile political climate in Pakistan.

Omar Ayub has also called for the release of Imran Khan, stating that dialogue can only proceed if the former Prime Minister is freed. He emphasized that the PTI’s struggle for Imran Khan’s return to the Prime Minister’s office will continue unabated.

This incident marks another chapter in the ongoing political turmoil in Pakistan, with PTI leaders facing legal challenges and responding with renewed calls for political action.

This incident has sparked significant reactions across the political spectrum, with many questioning the government’s methods and motives. The PTI has vowed to continue its campaign against what it perceives as political persecution, while government officials maintain that the actions taken are in line with legal protocols. As tensions escalate, the coming days are likely to see increased political activity and potentially more confrontations between PTI supporters and law enforcement agencies.
