Police arrested a couple
LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Lahore police arrested a couple in connection with the death of DIG Shariq Jamal in mysterious circumstances at his apartment in Lahore.
The DIG Shariq Jamal died in suspicious circumstances at his residence. However, upon further investigation, the police discovered that the DIG had been at the couple’s flat at the time of his unnatural death.

The arrested couple explained that Jamal had been with them at their flat, and when his health worsened, they took him to a private hospital in DHA. Doctors, nonetheless, declared DIG Jamal, dead upon arrival at 1:30 am.
The police verified the couple’s statement and confirmed that the senior police official had not been at his home but at an apartment in Lahore before being taken to the hospital.
Given the concerns raised by the sudden death of Jamal, the authorities initiated a thorough investigation into the incident.
The family of the deceased expressed their reluctance to conduct an autopsy. However, the police insisted and sent the body of the DIG to Jinnah Hospital for a postmortem examination.
DIG Shariq Jamal found dead in Lahore
Lahore’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shariq Jamal Khan has been found dead at a private flat in the upscale DHA area today.
According to the police, the authorities immediately transferred the body deceased DIG to the National Hospital DHA. But, later decided to move it to Jinnah Hospital for the post-mortem examination.
The deceased DIG resided in phase-4 under the jurisdiction of Defence-A police station, while the incident occurred in a flat falling within the jurisdiction of Nishtar police station.
Upon receiving the news, a team of police officers, led by a high-ranking officer, rushed to the hospital to personally oversee the investigation.
The grieving widow of the officer was also present at the hospital. The wife of the deceased DIG filed a case in response to the incident. Lahore police confirmed the launch of a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of death.
For now, authorities are considering multiple possibilities, including murder, suicide, and accidental death.
As the investigation progressed, the authorities have taken ten individuals into custody, including a woman named Quratulain and a man identified as Adeel.
