The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting rain and snowfall in Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan commencing tomorrow, coupled with expectations of dense fog in the plain areas of the country.
According to the advisory, the specified regions are slated to experience precipitation and snowfall over mountainous areas on the 13th, 16th, and 17th of January.

However, in response to circulating social media claims about snowfall in the plains of Punjab, the Met Office has categorically refuted such rumors, emphasizing that they are baseless. The public is urged to disregard any false information.
While frost is anticipated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region, including Islamabad, and Kashmir, a sustained cold wave is predicted to persist across the country until the following week.
The PMD forecasts that the majority of the country will encounter chilly and dry weather during this period.
Additionally, dense foggy conditions are expected to prevail in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.
The advisory serves as a reminder to the public to stay updated through official channels and to avoid falling victim to misinformation, especially in the age of social media where unverified reports can quickly spread.
The Met Office plays a crucial role in disseminating accurate weather information to ensure public safety and awareness during varying climatic conditions.
