Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is set to engage in high-level discussions with China’s top political leadership today, focusing on bolstering bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between the two nations.
During his five-day visit to China, Prime Minister Shehbaz will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and National People’s Congress Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Liji. In honor of the Prime Minister, the Chinese political leadership will host a reception.
One of the focal points of the visit will be the signing ceremony of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between China and Pakistan, covering cooperation across various sectors.
In his recent remarks, the Prime Minister expressed confidence in the upcoming phase of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), highlighting its pivotal role in deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries. He emphasized CPEC as a success story of mutually beneficial cooperation, forming a solid foundation for Pakistan’s economic progress.
Addressing the Pakistan-China Friendship and Business event in Beijing, attended by key members of his delegation and prominent Chinese figures, the Prime Minister encouraged Chinese investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan. He particularly highlighted the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), offering streamlined solutions for international investors. The Prime Minister called for practical cooperation in priority sectors such as mining, ICT, and agriculture.
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, grounded in mutual respect, strategic trust, and mutually beneficial cooperation. He underscored the enduring historical and cultural ties between the two nations, emphasizing the resilience of the Pakistan-China friendship over time.
Additionally, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of multilateralism and adherence to international law for global peace, security, and development. He commended China’s cooperative approach, particularly in engaging with developing countries through dialogue and shared prosperity.
