PM Congratulates Christian Officer James on Promotion to Major General

Christian Officer James

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his heartfelt congratulations to Julian Moazzam James, a Pakistan Army officer from the Christian community, on his promotion to the rank of major general.

In a statement on Monday, PM Shehbaz praised James for his dedicated service to the nation, emphasizing the invaluable contributions of the Christian community to Pakistan’s progress, development, and defense.

Highlighting James’ achievement as the first Christian army officer to reach the rank of major general, Prime Minister Shehbaz hailed his professional skills and hard work as exemplary, serving as a guiding light for the younger generation aspiring to serve the nation with distinction.

James’ promotion marks a significant milestone, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to inclusivity and recognizing the merit and capabilities of individuals from all backgrounds within its armed forces.

His elevation follows the recent promotion of Helen Mary Roberts, another member of the minority Christian community, to the rank of brigadier in the Pakistan Army’s Medical Corps, reflecting increasing opportunities and recognition for minorities in military leadership roles.

Acknowledging the broader contributions of Pakistan’s Christian community, PM Shehbaz referenced Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir’s commendation during a Christmas celebration at Christ Church in Rawalpindi.

General Munir had lauded the community’s pivotal role in national development, particularly in advancing education, healthcare, philanthropy, and bolstering the country’s defense capabilities.

General Munir emphasized the importance of fostering interfaith harmony, echoing the vision of Pakistan’s founding father, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, for a united and progressive nation.

He expressed profound respect for the Christian community’s contributions and emphasized the need for continued cooperation and mutual understanding among all religious and ethnic groups in Pakistan.

In celebrating Julian Moazzam James’ promotion and recognizing the achievements of Pakistan’s minority communities in various sectors, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities for all citizens, irrespective of their religious or ethnic backgrounds, in contributing to Pakistan’s prosperity and national unity.
