At least 300 birds and 30 animals of various types were born in the previous three months at Peshawar Zoo, making it one of the best breeding seasons in the country.
Dr. Abdul Qadir, one of the zoo’s veterinary officers, stated that more bird chicks are expected in the coming months as the breeding season continues over the summer. The zoo’s spotted deer and Arabian oryx were among the animals that gave birth to offspring.
In the long run, he said, the baby animals and birds would be sent to other zoos in the United States.
Even after the birth of the new animals, the management has had to increase heat-relief measures.
Trees and bushes have been planted throughout the zoo, while air conditioners and sprinklers have been put in the cages.
