In an effort to maintain community standards and adhere to local regulations, TikTok has actively collaborated with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority over the past six months, as outlined in its recent transparency report.
From July to December 2023, TikTok responded to 303 requests from the Pakistani government, resulting in the removal of 93.5% of the reported content. This proactive engagement illustrates TikTok’s commitment to addressing concerns raised by local authorities regarding inappropriate or sensitive content on its platform.
According to TikTok’s ‘Government Removal Request Report’, a total of 12,392 pieces of content were taken down for violations of community guidelines, while 2,126 pieces were removed for breaching local laws.
Additionally, TikTok deactivated 270 accounts due to violations of community guidelines and 59 accounts for infringing local laws during this reporting period.
TikTok’s quarterly Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for Q4 2023 further highlights its rigorous content moderation efforts globally, achieving a proactive removal rate of 99.5% for violating content. This proactive stance underscores TikTok’s commitment to fostering a safe and respectful environment for its users worldwide, including those in Pakistan.
