Pakistan’s COVID trend returns, but fatalities remain low

Total tests in last 24 hours: 15,462; positive cases: 541; positivity%: 3.50%; deaths: 01; patients on critical care: 100

The National Institute of Health said that at least 541 instances of coronavirus have been recorded in the previous 24 hours, which is the largest total in the last three months. Despite the rising death toll because of Covid, just one patient’s demise has been documented.

One person died and 100 others were placed in critical care because of the recent outbreak, according to a tweet from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Over 600 instances of a virus were recorded in Pakistan on March 13 of last year.

The current coronavirus scenario led the Civil Aviation Authority earlier this week to mandate the use of face masks for domestic flights.

Because of an upsurge, Karachi, Pakistan’s economic centre, has been particularly heavily impacted. The National Command and Operation Centre has developed a plan at the province level in order to stop the spread of the virus.

Precautionary steps

Intensify examinations

Locating a person’s contact information

Apply non-pharmaceutical measures, such as wearing a mask in congested areas, and use of domestic transportation such as aeroplanes, trains, or automobiles

People have been warned by the WHO to avoid the “3Cs” in order to be safe.

Crowded places
Close-contact settings
Confined and enclosed spaces with poor ventilation

Avoid self-medication if you want to stay healthy.

Medical Association Secretary-General Dr Qaiser Sajjad has warned Pakistanis to avoid self-medication if they get diseased or unwell.

Dr. Sajjad said that “The doctor has the last say on whether or not to prescribe an antibiotic to a patient. In certain cases, doctors prescribe medication because they fear the patient may get infected in the future.”

“As a result of the Covid limits being lifted and people not wearing masks, we advised that it was not and the sixth layer of the virus was predicted,” he added, using Omicron’s sub-variant as an example.

According to Dr Sajjad, an ENT expert, an infected person’s symptoms such as sneezing, sore throat, and flu appear within two to three hours of coming into contact with you. That person’s fever returns the next day.

An inquiry on the lack of a modern virology lab when dealing with negative Covid tests for fever and other symptoms was addressed by the secretary general. In addition, he cautioned journalists from using the names of pharmaceutical firms while discussing the paracetamol pill, saying that doing so might result in a scarcity of the medication on the market.
