The Shehbaz Sharif-led government has approved scholarships for 100 Bangladeshi students, marking a step forward in strengthening ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh. This development comes after the fall of a government perceived as overly influenced by India. The initiative reflects Pakistan’s efforts to enhance educational collaboration with Bangladesh, promoting goodwill between the two nations.
The scholarships will enable Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education in Pakistan, fostering academic and cultural exchange. This follows Bangladesh’s decision to admit Pakistani students at the University of Dhaka, demonstrating mutual efforts to rebuild educational cooperation.
According to sources, the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka is playing a central role in managing the scholarship process. Pakistani universities will independently select Bangladeshi students through their dedicated admission portals, ensuring a streamlined and transparent process.
This move is part of a broader attempt to restore educational ties that had remained dormant for an extended period. It highlights the potential for collaboration in various sectors, emphasizing education as a critical area of focus.
In another sign of warming relations, a Pakistani cargo vessel recently docked in Chittagong, further underscoring the improving bilateral ties. Such initiatives signify a renewed era of cooperation between the two countries, paving the way for further partnerships.
