A Pakistani cargo ship, Gas Flek, has been seized by authorities at Beira Port in Mozambique over unpaid financial dues. The vessel’s crew, now detained, is facing extreme hardship, according to Captain Aslam, who urgently called on the Government of Pakistan to intervene.
The Pakistani cargo ship reportedly ran out of essential supplies, leaving the crew without food, drinking water, or working air conditioning. Captain Aslam warned that even the emergency lighting could soon fail. Communication through mobile phones may also stop as power systems are being depleted.
The Pakistani cargo ship was detained after the shipping company failed to clear its outstanding debts. Mozambican port officials subsequently seized the vessel and placed the entire crew under custody. The situation on board continues to deteriorate as the detained Pakistani cargo ship remains stranded without relief.
Appealing for help, Captain Aslam urged Islamabad to act swiftly. “We request the Pakistani government to urgently address this crisis and secure the release of the Pakistani cargo ship and its crew,” he said. With deteriorating conditions and a looming humanitarian crisis, time is of the essence.
Captain Aslam emphasized that the Pakistani cargo ship incident could lead to a broader diplomatic issue if not resolved immediately. The crew remains hopeful that Pakistan will take diplomatic steps to ensure their safe return and secure the vessel’s release. The detained Pakistani cargo ship symbolizes the critical need for government support in international maritime matters.
