Pakistan Railways has unveiled a 50% discount on train fares for passengers with disabilities, reflecting a major step toward improving accessibility. The discount applies to all express and passenger trains across the country, excluding the Green Line service.
Eligible passengers must hold a computerized national identity card (CNIC) that indicates their disability. In addition, visually impaired individuals can avail of discounted tickets for their accompanying attendants, ensuring a more inclusive travel experience.
To facilitate these travelers, Pakistan Railways has set up dedicated booking counters at major railway stations nationwide. Accessibility improvements also include the provision of accessible washrooms and wheelchairs, ensuring convenience and comfort during journeys.
The railway department aims to extend these facilities to an additional 12 railway stations soon, broadening accessibility for passengers with disabilities. This initiative underscores Pakistan Railways’ commitment to creating a more inclusive public transport system.
