Opposition parties have decided to broaden their anti-government alliance, with key consultations and meetings currently in progress.
As part of their strategy, opposition leaders will extend their movement to Sindh, where members of Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aeen Pakistan are set to begin a three-day visit today.
During this visit, critical meetings have been scheduled to solidify the Grand Opposition Alliance. The delegation will engage with leaders of the Grand Democratic Alliance and hold discussions with Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chief Ayaz Latif Palijo in Hyderabad.
Prominent opposition figures, including Mehmood Achakzai, Asad Qaiser, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Akhunzada Hussain, and representatives from BNP-Mengal and MWM, will participate in the discussions. Additionally, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Secretary-General, Salman Akram Raja, is expected to attend.
The visit will also include meetings with Sindh’s business community, bar associations, and PTI officials in Karachi. Opposition leaders will further engage with journalists to amplify their narrative and broaden public support.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam’s spokesperson, Aslam Ghauri, rejected claims of internal divisions over JUI-F’s role in the alliance. He asserted that certain elements were deliberately spreading misinformation to create discord.
Ghauri emphasized that Maulana Fazlur Rehman remains a key figure in the alliance, even without holding a formal leadership position. He stated that attempts to discredit the opposition were, in fact, uniting its members.
He further claimed that following Fazlur Rehman’s recent parliamentary address, a targeted defamation campaign was launched against him. However, he maintained that the public was well aware of those orchestrating these attacks.
