Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub announced on Thursday that the party is determined to stage a protest at D-Chowk, regardless of obstacles. He emphasized that no one can take away their constitutional right to protest, dismissing the legal cases against PTI leaders as baseless.
“The cases against our leadership are fabricated,” Ayub declared, criticizing the current government. He further accused the ruling party of seeking constitutional amendments to cover up corruption, vowing that PTI will not allow these changes to proceed unchecked.
In a related statement, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan voiced his concerns about the government’s actions regarding constitutional amendments. He argued that the current administration lacks the mandate to approve such a significant package, particularly with respect to the judiciary.
In an exclusive interview with Samaa TV following the postponement of parliamentary sessions, Khan expressed frustration over the lack of transparency in the government’s approach. “In-camera briefings are insufficient; not everything can be addressed behind closed doors,” he said. He emphasized that the PTI is prepared to engage in discussions but questioned the government’s agenda.
“We need clarity on what exactly the government wishes to discuss,” Khan remarked, adding that meaningful dialogue is impossible without a clear draft of the proposed constitutional amendments. PTI, he reiterated, is willing to talk, but the government must present its plans openly.
