An early morning collision between a tanker and a trailer truck on Karachi’s Native Jetty Bridge resulted in a major oil spill, severely disrupting traffic on one of the city’s key commercial routes. No casualties were reported; however, the accident has caused significant inconvenience to commuters as the bridge serves as a vital link to the port.
According to traffic police, the collision occurred at around 5 am, causing extensive damage to the tanker’s nozzle. This led to thousands of liters of oil spilling onto the road, creating hazardous conditions. The slippery surface caused several people to fall and sustain minor injuries. Efforts to clear the site are underway, with heavy machinery deployed to remove the trailer from the scene.
The track leading to Mauripur has been completely blocked, worsening the traffic situation in the area. Meanwhile, a crowd of onlookers and locals gathered to collect the spilled oil, further complicating recovery efforts.
Traffic authorities are working to restore normal flow, and police have taken both vehicles involved in the accident into custody. An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the collision.
The Native Jetty Bridge, a crucial artery for Karachi’s trade and transportation network, remains inaccessible as cleanup operations continue. Commuters have been advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
