In a major advancement for Pakistan’s technology sector, the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) has officially designated the NSIT Silicon Block as a Special Technology Zone (STZ). This important milestone highlights Punjab’s emerging role as a hub for innovation and a prime destination for both domestic and international tech investment.
Following this designation, the next phase involves the issuance of the Zone Developer (ZD) License and finalization of the Development Agreement. These steps are vital for advancing infrastructure development and facilitating a smooth investment process for future ventures.
Imran Amin, CEO of CBD Punjab, stated, “This recognition of NSIT Silicon Block as a Special Technology Zone reinforces our commitment to building a future-focused ecosystem in Punjab. It opens the door for increased investment, innovation, job creation, and sustainable economic growth. We are actively collaborating with STZA to accelerate the licensing and agreement procedures to ensure rapid development of the zone.”
The NSIT Silicon Block is a signature project under the Central Business District (CBD) Punjab initiative. It is designed to serve as a modern tech cluster, accommodating industries in artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, software engineering, and advanced research and development.
With this official status, CBD Punjab solidifies its role as a leading force in economic diversification and digital transformation within Pakistan. The STZ designation is expected to drive technological innovation, enhance exports, and create high-skilled employment opportunities, thereby making a strong contribution to the national economy.
