North Waziristan
Security forces conducted a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the general area of Miran Shah, North Waziristan, on November 12-13, targeting the presence of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants, referred to as Khawarij militants, according to a statement from the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operation was launched following actionable intelligence reports about the militant hideout in the area.
The operation led to the death of eight TTP militants, with six others sustaining injuries during the intense exchange of fire. ISPR confirmed that the troops effectively neutralized the militants’ hideout and eliminated key members of the Khawarij group.
The ISPR statement emphasized that security forces remain vigilant and resolute in their mission to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan. Following the successful engagement, a sanitization operation was initiated to clear the area of any remaining insurgents and secure the region.
In a statement released on Wednesday, ISPR reiterated the commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to rid the country of terrorism. It emphasized that forces will continue to engage and eliminate insurgents wherever they are found, ensuring the safety and security of Pakistan’s borders and citizens.
This operation marks another successful step in ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the North Waziristan region, which has long been a stronghold for militant activities.
In a separate incident, security forces carried out another major intelligence-based operation in Kech District, Balochistan, where they eliminated four terrorists, including a high-value target, Sana alias Baru.
According to ISPR, Sana was a notorious terrorist leader affiliated with the so-called Majeed Brigade, a militant group active in the region. He had been a key recruitment agent for suicide bombers and was responsible for orchestrating several deadly attacks in the area. His elimination is considered a significant blow to the militant group’s operational capabilities.
The Kech IBO was backed by precise, actionable intelligence, leading to an intense firefight between the security forces and the terrorists. In addition to neutralizing the militants, the security forces recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition from the terrorist hideout.
The operation is part of a broader crackdown on militant activities in Balochistan, where insurgents have frequently targeted security forces and civilians.
The authorities have launched a sanitization operation in the Kech area to ensure that no remaining terrorists are hiding in the region. This operation aims to restore peace and stability to the region, which has been plagued by militant violence for years.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the success of both operations, highlighting the importance of these actions in destabilizing militant networks in Pakistan. He commended the dedication of the security forces and emphasized the need for continued vigilance in combating terrorism.
Naqvi remarked that the elimination of these high-profile terrorists is a significant step towards securing the country and protecting its citizens from further attacks.
These operations underscore Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to counterterrorism efforts, particularly in regions like North Waziristan and Balochistan, which have long been hotspots for militant activity.
The successful neutralization of key terrorist leaders and the recovery of weapons further reinforce the government’s determination to maintain national security and stability.
