New Twist
ISLAMABAD: The alleged rape case in Margalla Hills Trail-3 took a new twist on Tuesday as police termed the incident fake and an outcome of a personal feud.
The Islamabad police announced declared the Margalla Hills rape incident a fabricated story.
Previously, the Islamabad police had filed a first information report (FIR) on Friday regarding the alleged rape of a woman at one of the hiking trails (Trail-3) in the Margalla Hills.
The police had stated on Sunday that they had apprehended the suspect involved in the incident.
In their recent statement, the police revealed that the suspect had engaged in a dispute with a colleague, who subsequently sought vengeance by contacting a group of individuals.
This colleague then reached out to a member of the group, a resident of Rawalpindi, with the intention of falsely accusing the suspect of rape.
Furthermore, the statement explained that a member of the gang contacted the supposed victim in Sheikhupura, and together, they devised a plan to stage a rape scenario involving the suspect.
“As per the plan, the victim was supposed to accompany the suspect to Trail 3, where she would simulate being raped and raise an alarm.
Meanwhile, the remaining members of the group were to arrive at the location and record videos.”
“The suspect and his family were intended to be blackmailed and extorted with these videos. The victim met with the accused at Trail 3 but her accomplices failed to reach the spot. After waiting for an extended period, the victim returned to Rawalpindi with the suspect.”
“Afterward, she filed an FIR at the police station and returned to Sheikhupura. The police conducted a thorough investigation into the matter,” the statement stated.
It further mentioned that the alleged victim “confessed all the facts and the plan in the presence of a magistrate” during her visit to the police station.
“This group specializes in deceiving and extorting money from people through blackmail.”
The police disclosed that two cases had been registered against the purported victim in Sheikhupura and Muridke, while one member of the group had a prior criminal record.
