ISLAMABAD: Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), is set to arrive in Islamabad today (Monday) for a series of meetings with leaders from various political parties.
During his week-long stay in Murree, Nawaz Sharif plans to engage in discussions with political figures, including Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), among others, to address matters of mutual interest such as the formation of governments at both the federal and provincial levels.
It’s anticipated that both the PML-N and the PPP will issue a joint declaration regarding their collaborative efforts and plans for forming the next government.
The anticipation for significant progress in the ongoing discussions was underscored by former finance minister Ishaq Dar, who hinted at an “important development” expected during the upcoming meeting between the coordination committees of the PPP and PML-N.
Ishaq Dar emphasized the importance of adhering to the agreed-upon rules during the coalition talks, urging members and leaders of both parties to refrain from commenting on the ongoing discussions.
He highlighted that despite several rounds of consultations, the final points of agreement between the two parties are yet to be resolved, with further discussions scheduled for Monday.
Dar expressed optimism for a breakthrough in the upcoming meeting and stressed that any official announcement regarding the outcome of the consultations would be made jointly by both parties after the discussions are concluded.
He emphasized the need to respect the procedural agreements between the parties and refrain from premature discussions until the consultation process is completed.
