ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified that the Civil Aviation Authority made it mandatory for foreign travelers to get polio vaccination certification before boarding their flights.
NADRA issued this clarification in response to media reports which claimed the NADRA has linked foreign travel with certification of polio vaccination.
In a statement issued through Twitter (now X), NADRA said it is only issuing vaccination certificates and the CAA has directed the airlines to mandatory check passengers’ polio vaccination cards.
Hence, NADRA said it has no authority to issue such orders to airlines. However, NADRA advised Pakistanis intending to visit abroad to get the polio certificate before boarding the flight to inconvenience.

Meanwhile, NADRA also advised Pakistanis intending to travel abroad to keep their polio cards updated online while traveling abroad.
Meanwhile, in June this year, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) abolished the requirements for presenting COVID-19 vaccination and testing evidence for foreign travel.
The need for presenting a COVID-19 vaccine certificate upon arrival and providing a negative PCR report before boarding flights or upon arrival has been abolished for all passengers.
Additionally, the condition of 2% screening for COVID-19 for passengers traveling from the UK, Gulf, and other countries was also abolished.
