Mumtaz Zahra Baloch appointed new spokesperson for Foreign Office in Islamabad

Before appointment as spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch was serving as an additional director Asia Pacific in the Foreign Office.

ISLAMABAD: A senior foreign office official Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has been appointed as the new spokesperson of Foreign Office with immediate effect.

She has replaced Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, who performed very well, Foreign Office said in a statement.

Before appointment as spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch was serving as an additional director Asia Pacific in the Foreign Office.

According to Foreign Office, Saima Syed has been appointed as deputy spokesperson of Foreign Office.

Earlier, she was working as director general (DG) of strategic communication division.

In a tweet, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar said that for the first time, women will be spokespersons of the Foreign Office.
