ISLAMABAD: The Motorway Police have apprehended two individuals who were involved in damaging motorway infrastructure near Multan, cutting through a security fence and location boards.
According to a spokesperson, the suspects were reported via the Motorway Police helpline 130 after their suspicious behavior drew public attention. Officers on patrol swiftly responded and caught one suspect in the act, while the other initially fled the scene.
With the assistance of local police, the second suspect was later arrested. Authorities also recovered 60 meters of the stolen security fencing from the suspects.
The spokesperson stressed the critical role of fencing in preventing animals from wandering onto the motorway — a risk that could lead to serious accidents.
Both the recovered materials and the suspects have been handed over to the local police for further investigation.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dar Ali Khattak praised the officers involved for their prompt and effective action in safeguarding public infrastructure.
