Microsoft has recently introduced a dedicated app for its AI-powered Copilot platform on the Google Play Store for Android devices. This standalone app provides users with access to Microsoft’s Copilot without requiring the Bing mobile app. Notably, an iOS version of the app has not been released yet.

The AI Copilot platform is designed to assist users in various tasks, offering features such as gaining insights, automating tasks, and processing extensive amounts of data. Earlier in the year, Microsoft unveiled an AI-powered version of its Bing search engine, which incorporated a ChatGPT-like interface directly into search results. Subsequently, the company transitioned away from the Bing Chat branding, adopting the name Copilot for this interface, reminiscent of ChatGPT.
The Copilot app offers functionalities such as chatbot capabilities, image generation, and generating draft text for emails and documents. Furthermore, users will have free access to OpenAI’s latest GPT-4 model through the app.
In March, Microsoft revealed its commitment to making artificial intelligence more accessible to users, responding to recent announcements by its competitor Google. As part of this initiative, the company previewed a new AI “Copilot” for Microsoft 365, which includes popular applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Initially available for testing to around 20 enterprises, the AI Copilot aims to accelerate content creation by providing draft suggestions within these applications, ultimately saving users time.
