Let’s Paint the Town Red inside the Home on this Eid, Stay Home & Stay Safe

There are many creative ways of celebrating Eid with your family while avoiding crowds and going out.

We have lived two Eids now with the pandemic and are more familiar with the do’s and don’ts of Eid. The don’ts are go hopping door to door meeting relatives, attending big gatherings or public events, and just leaving the house unnecessarily without a mask. Whereas the do’s are having fun at home, with your closest family, or even on your own and that is very much doable.

Without making your Eid boring, there are some fun ways to celebrate Eid without violating SOPs and putting yourselves and your families at risk.

Bring the Artist inside you out and revive the childhood memories of giving Eid cards and make some now for your mother and other family members. This is even more fun if you have kids of your own today.

Instead of going to each other’s places, let’s make goody bags for the loved ones you can’t meet with the loved ones that you can and a little bit of humor in creativity would hurt no one.

The goody bags could have things like chocolate, flowers, Eidi (obviously), Eid cards, fresh fruit and homemade kheer and/or baked goodies.

Some Eid card DIY videos you can follow:

Food is the most significant and most awaited part of Eid. Our childhood spent eating kheer has taught us that Eid isn’t Eid without the desserts. Family cooking sessions could be turned into playdates to make perfect at-home entertainment this Eid.

You can also follow some Arab dessert dishes like Kahk, some Turkish deserts, maybe some chocolate peanut butter shortbread sandwiches, or even some good old chocolate chip cookies. The point is to make the best out of this situation at home.

Many people like decorating the house on Eid which gives a glam to Eid celebrations.

Lanterns, lamps, and fairy lights are your best friends this season, and due to their popularity, they’re also quite easy to get. Accent your walls with pretty lights, decorate your home with banners, wall hangings, and fresh sheets.

You can host an online party by sending invitations with the gift packages — the food and cards — you made. This means minimum interaction, maximum results.

You can make the party more fun by playing online games. If you have kids around and want to play something that involves them more, consider Pictionary! It’s truly a game for all ages, you’ll have the best time playing this with the people you love, even if you aren’t literally together.

Last but not the least, you can get a photoshoot done at home! Without a picture, there isn’t any Eid. You are allowed to be a little extra about your pictures this time. Find a good place or do some cleaning and make a room for cute family pictures and solos.

As we celebrate Eid in our homes, let’s pray and hope for this pandemic to get over. Stay home and stay safe everyone.
