ISLAMABAD: The Law Ministry has strongly criticized a social media campaign targeting Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq. The ministry denounced the campaign, stating that criticism of the Chief Justice on social media is unacceptable, and political parties should refrain from launching attacks against national institutions.
Earlier, Chief Justice of the IHC, Aamer Farooq, dismissed a petition submitted by PTI Chairman Imran Khan, who sought permission to participate in case proceedings via video link. Imran Khan made his plea based on the fact that he is facing multiple ongoing inquiries, investigations, and criminal cases not only in Islamabad but also in other parts of the country.
In his petition, Imran Khan requested the court to direct the respondents to facilitate his participation and appearance in all cases through a video link. Alternatively, he suggested conducting hearings for cases in the Islamabad Capital Territory at the Federal Judicial Complex to minimize disruption to other judicial proceedings.
He also requested comprehensive security arrangements from the State and the Inspector General of Police within the Islamabad Capital Territory, during court appearances. The petitioner also expressed concerns about security issues related to the F-8 Kachehri area. However, the court ultimately dismissed the petition.
