In a crackdown against profiteering, Lahore Police, in coordination with the district administration, has arrested 335 individuals for violating the Price Control Act during Ramazan, registering 112 cases.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday, the arrests were part of an ongoing effort to curb illegal price hikes and ensure the availability of affordable, high-quality food items for the public.
The detainees were apprehended across various city divisions, with 50 arrests in the City Division, 13 in Cantonment, 32 in Civil Lines, 74 in Sadar, 49 in Iqbal Town, and 117 in Model Town.
Chief Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana reaffirmed that legal action against profiteers and hoarders would continue. He emphasized that the district administration is fully committed to regulating fair prices and preventing exploitation during the holy month.
Authorities have pledged to take strict legal measures against individuals engaging in artificial inflation and hoarding, ensuring price stability for essential goods.
These efforts underscore the administration’s commitment to maintaining market fairness and protecting consumers from unjust pricing during Ramazan.
