MDCAT
In response to allegations of cheating that marred the previous Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on September 10, students are set to retake the exam on Sunday. The decision to reconduct the test was prompted by complaints and concerns over the integrity of the initial results.
Scheduled to commence at 10 am across 11 designated centers, the MDCAT retest anticipates the participation of over 40,000 students. Stringent measures have been implemented to ensure a fair examination environment, including mandatory biometric verification and a prohibition on mobile phones within the test centers.
In response to the prior allegations of cheating, the district administration in Peshawar has imposed Section 144, highlighting the seriousness of maintaining order and security during the exam. Applicants are instructed to bring their identification cards for verification.
The September 10 test, initially conducted nationwide, was marred by suspicions of cheating, leading to dissatisfaction and complaints. Despite authorities’ claims of foiling cheating attempts during the initial exam, subsequent grievances prompted the government to order a retest. The matter even reached the Peshawar High Court, which disposed of the petition and directed the retest to be conducted within six weeks.
The decision to retest reflects the commitment to upholding the integrity of the MDCAT process and ensuring a fair evaluation for all students. The implementation of strict protocols and the imposition of Section 144 underscore the gravity of addressing concerns related to cheating and maintaining the credibility of the medical admission process in KP.
