Peshawar: In the wake of the tragic school van bombing in Khuzdar, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has issued a province-wide security advisory for all educational institutions, with special emphasis on major cities including Peshawar.
The directive outlines immediate measures schools must adopt to strengthen on-campus security. These include the installation of CCTV cameras, deployment of trained security personnel, and establishment of controlled entry and exit points. Schools have also been instructed to put in place an emergency alert system and a clearly defined evacuation plan.
The advisory further encourages institutions to conduct security awareness sessions for students, aimed at building preparedness and promoting vigilance among children and staff.
Qaiser Alam, Special Secretary of Education KP, told that the department is working in close coordination with the district administration and police to implement a comprehensive security strategy.
“Since the Army Public School tragedy, safeguarding our students has remained a top priority,” said Alam. “We have now directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) to carry out fresh security assessments of schools under their jurisdiction.”
He reaffirmed the department’s resolve to utilize all available resources to ensure the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and staff across the province.
The renewed security push underscores growing concerns over school safety, as authorities aim to prevent further acts of violence targeting educational institutions.
