RAWALPINDI: In separate tribal districts, two operations resulted in the deaths of six terrorists and the martyrdom of four soldiers, as stated in a release by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.
The confrontations between security forces and terrorists occurred on the night of October 18 and 19 in North and South Waziristan districts, according to the military’s media wing.

In North Waziristan’s Gharyoum area, the ISPR reported that security forces effectively engaged the terrorists’ location and eliminated six militants in the first engagement.
Among the deceased terrorists was a high-value target and terrorist ringleader, Hazrat Zaman, also known as Khawarey Mullah. He was actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area and had been wanted by law enforcement agencies. During the operation, three soldiers lost their lives:
- Lance Naik Tabbasum Ul Haq, 36 years old, a resident of Rawalpindi district.
- Sepoy Naeem Akhtar, 30 years old, a resident of Attock district.
- Sepoy Abdul Hameed, 23 years old, a resident of Multan district.
In another intense firefight between the troops and terrorists in South Waziristan’s Asman Manza area, Sepoy Farman Ali, 25 years old and a resident of Kashmore district, made the ultimate sacrifice and embraced martyrdom.
The ISPR mentioned that post-operation sanitization efforts are underway to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.
“The security forces of Pakistan are determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country, and the sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”

According to data released by the central bank on Thursday, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) saw its foreign exchange reserves rise by $67.3 million or 0.88% WoW to reach $7.71 billion by the week ending on October 13, 2023.
In contrast, the country’s total reserves decreased by $117.2 million or 0.9% WoW to $12.91 billion. Commercial banks witnessed a decrease in their reserves, which fell by $184.5 million or 3.43% WoW to $5.2 billion.
