Security Forces
Pakistani security forces successfully thwarted multiple infiltration attempts by Khawarij terrorists and Afghan Taliban fighters at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, ensuring the safety of the country’s borders.
On the nights of December 27 and 28, a group of 20 to 25 terrorists affiliated with the Fitna-al-Khawarij attempted to cross into Pakistan from two separate locations, Kurram and North Waziristan.
They attempted to use Afghan Taliban-controlled border posts to facilitate their infiltration, but the Pakistani security forces responded promptly and prevented the attackers from entering the country.
Despite the initial failure, the terrorists made another attempt in the early hours of Saturday, using the same Afghan Taliban border posts.
When their infiltration failed once again, the group resorted to unprovoked heavy weapon fire at Pakistani border posts. In retaliation, Pakistan’s security forces swiftly and decisively responded, engaging the terrorists with full force.
The exchange of fire led to heavy casualties on the Afghan side, with over 15 Khawarij and Afghan Taliban fighters killed and several others injured.
The intense shelling and counterfire from Pakistani forces caused the Afghan Taliban forces to retreat, abandoning six of their border posts in the process. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported among Pakistani security personnel, although three soldiers sustained injuries during the skirmish.
This latest incident highlights the continued threat posed by terrorist groups operating freely within Afghanistan, allegedly with the support of the Afghan Taliban.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the interim Afghan government to take action against these terrorist elements using Afghan soil to launch attacks against Pakistan.
However, despite these calls, the Afghan Taliban has reportedly continued to support such groups instead of suppressing them.
Pakistan’s security forces remain fully prepared to respond to any acts of aggression with decisive force, ensuring the security and sovereignty of the nation’s borders.
The successful interception of these infiltration attempts underscores the commitment and readiness of Pakistan’s military in safeguarding the country against external threats.
