Khadim Hussain Rind Takes Charge as Karachi’s New Police Chief in Sindh Police Shake-Up

KARACHI / ISLAMABAD:  On Tuesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) approved a significant reorganization within the Sindh police department as requested by the provincial caretaker government.

According to the notification, Grade-21 officer Khadim Hussian Rind, has been appointed as the new police chief of Karachi. Syed Asad Raza has assumed the position of DIG South Zone Karachi.

In a similar fashion, Asim Khan has assumed the position of DIG West Zone. Ghulam Asghar has been designated as DIG East Zone. Tariq Razzaque is now fulfilling the role of DIG Hyderabad Range. Tanveer Alam Odho has been appointed as DIG Mirpurkhas Range.

This decision follows the response of the Sindh Services, General Administration & Coordination Department to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) letter regarding officer transfers and postings. The department has also submitted a list of names for approval.

The ECP had previously written to the caretaker government regarding the lack of compliance with its orders concerning officer transfers and postings.

Earlier, the Sindh government had imposed a ban on transfers and postings throughout the province, in accordance with directives from the ECP.

CDA Board Announces Increase In Metro Buses Fares In Islamabad Excluding Red Metro

Meanwhile, the CDA board tabled the proposal for fare hikes on Tuesday, and subsequently approved it.

The CDA is expected to announce a notification for the fare increase soon. So far, the CDA is not increasing fare of the Red Metro that runs on Pindi to Secretariat route.

The board of the CDA approved the fares for the Green Line from Rs 30 to 50. It operates from PIMS to Bhara Kahu. The Blue Line fare also increased to Rs 50, from existing Rs 30 fare. It runs from PIMS to Koral route in Islamabad.
