KARACHI: The accused DSP and his son have been placed on a three-day physical remand in connection with a robbery case in Gulshan Iqbal, Karachi,
Details reveal that a judicial magistrate’s court in Karachi granted the physical remand of DSP Zafar and his son, who stand accused in the robbery incident. The court instructed the police to thoroughly investigate the accused and submit a progress report during the next hearing.
According to the investigating officer, DSP Zafar’s son allegedly used his father’s police vehicle in the commission of crimes. One of their alleged accomplices remains at large and efforts are ongoing for his apprehension.
The court further directed the investigation officer to provide updates on the investigation at the upcoming hearing and authorized the police to retain custody of the accused for further inquiries.
Earlier, local police arrested DSP Zafar and his son after the police vehicle assigned to the DSP was reportedly used during a robbery at a shop in Karachi.
According to police sources, Abbas, who was seen in CCTV footage allegedly assisting the robbers, was also initially detained but later released after providing his statement.
The accused individuals had reportedly tampered with the number plate of the police vehicle used in the robbery.
“I was merely helping the policemen shift items in the police vehicle as a resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal,” Abbas stated to the police.
It is noteworthy that DSP Umair Tariq Bajari, an under-training officer, along with SSP South Imran Qureshi and two Shaheen Force officials, were recently found culpable in a heist in Karachi’s Orangi Town following an extensive police investigation.
