Kakar says Pakistan won’t let anyone affect its close bond with China

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar has emphasized that Pakistan will not allow anyone to undermine its strong relations with China.

The caretaker PM engaged in discussions with scholars and researchers from think tanks during the CPEC roundtable meeting in Beijing on Tuesday.

He emphasized that Pakistan has nurtured the enduring friendship with China at every opportunity. He stressed that its relationship with China holds greater importance for Pakistan than any other.

Kakar further noted that over the past decade, CPEC has brought about significant changes to the working landscape of Pakistan. He expressed that this groundbreaking multi-billion-dollar initiative is driving the national agenda for sustainable development.

He underlined that CPEC has led to the modernization of Pakistan’s infrastructure and is set to offer developmental prospects to the nation’s youth. The project has played a pivotal role in creating employment opportunities, reducing poverty, and fostering rural development. Kakar conveyed that CPEC has paved the way for social and economic progress in underprivileged regions.

The PM also hailed CPEC as a source of development and prosperity for the people of Balochistan, describing the corridor as a symbol of the strategic trust shared between China and Pakistan. Kakar emphasized their commitment to extending CPEC into Afghanistan, which would facilitate regional development and make Gwadar a focal point for regional communication.

PM Kakar’s CPEC Vision and Progress Update

Kakar expressed Pakistan’s readiness to welcome new partners looking to benefit from the project, highlighting the construction of 800 kilometers of new roads and a highways network, as well as the addition of 8,000 megawatts of electricity to the national grid. He further mentioned that CPEC has created more than 200,000 job opportunities and extended an invitation to Chinese investors to participate in green energy projects.

The PM also spoke of plans to enhance the trade corridor between Xinjiang and Gilgit-Baltistan and the significance of investing in Pakistan during a visit to Ürümqi city.

Following the meeting, the PM shared his sentiments on his social media account, expressing pride in the progress achieved, which has elevated Pakistan’s socio-economic landscape and bolstered the bond with China. He added that as they reflect on their successes, they are ready for the next phase, with a focus on growth, innovation, and green development.
