Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Senator Kamran Murtaza met with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser to discuss collaboration on the Societies Registration Amendment Bill and related political matters.
The senator urged PTI to support the legislation aimed at regulating religious seminaries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He stressed that the KP Assembly must pass its own laws regarding madrassas, as the federal bill’s scope is limited to Islamabad. Senator Murtaza also revealed plans to engage political leadership in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan to encourage similar legislative efforts in their respective assemblies.
Murtaza called on PTI to conduct internal consultations to decide whether it wants to cooperate on this issue. He noted conflicting statements from PTI leaders regarding JUI-F and madrassas, emphasizing the need for a unified stance before moving forward.
Asad Qaiser responded by requesting clarity on how PTI could assist JUI-F in addressing challenges faced by madrassas. He expressed PTI’s willingness to consult further to identify areas of collaboration.
The discussion also explored broader political cooperation between JUI-F and PTI, focusing on legislative and policy-related matters of mutual interest.
